Day 14 | Sunday, November 6, 2016
This morning with a 4:55 am flight we begin our 2 week adventure which will include Cusco, Aguas Calientes/Machu Picchu, Arequipa and Nazca.
Our first day in Cusco we will take it easy. At an elevation of just over 11,000 feet we need to take time to adjust so that we don’t become victims of altitude sickness. We started taking a medication to help with the altitude sickness 2 days before we left Lima but it isn’t a get out of jail free card. Due to the late night packing and the early morning wake up call we are both crawling back into bed to sleep for a while after checking into our hotel in Cusco.
Well I guess we were both exhausted because we slept from about 7:30 am until 5:30 pm. There went the first day in Cusco.
Day 15 | Monday, November 7, 2016
It is time to leave our room and explore a little of Cusco. Also, on the agenda for today is to book a tour of the Sacred Valley for tomorrow and possibly book a guide for Machu Picchu. We are going to head down to the Plaza de Armas (the main plaza) to check out the Central fountain, Cusco Cathedral and the Temple of the Society of Jesus. From there we will wander and see what we can see. Also, most of the tour companies have offices in and around the Plaza de Armas so we will get information on the Sacred Valley tour and perhaps a guide for Machu Picchu.
Here are some pics of the day. Steve used his exclusive incognito photo taking method to capture the inside of the Temple of the Society of Jesus.
