So while Summer was doing research for where to get the Yellow Fever vaccine, since the Walgreens that we went to for TDaP was not certified to administer it, she found that Costco had it. After talking to one of the pharmacists there, we found that they have all of the vaccines that we need in stock with the exception of Rabies which they can order. Now why we had not thought to go to Costco in the first place I have no idea. Between our soda business and personal shopping we go there at least twice a week, but for some reason had never used their pharmacy. So not only can they administer all of the vaccines we need, they are about 40% cheaper than they are at Walgreens. That would have saved us $40.22 last Monday on TDaP for both of us.
So while getting the Hepatitis A shot today the Pharmacist asked us if this was the first in our Hepatitis A series. Come to find out we need 3 of these shots. The first one today, the next in 1 month, and the third in 6 months or in our case once we are back from our trip. Each shot ringing in at $71.09 per person. After talking to our Doctor, the Pharmacist at Walgreens, and the Pharmacist and Costco late last week I am not sure why none of them mentioned any of this. After learning about this I went ahead and researched the rest of the vaccinations that we need and found that Rabies is also a 3 rounder. For Rabies the second shot is 7 days after the first and the third shot is 21 or 28 days after the first one.
